Fluke Networks announced the release of an enhanced suite of LAN validation tests as part of its EtherScope Network Assistant. Fluke says that as much as $20,000 (USD) per LAN can be saved each year using LAN validation tests on network installation. Performing LAN validation tests virtually eliminates performance failures that would otherwise be discovered by actual users in the course of normal business operations.
The enhanced LAN validation tests are made up of the expanded Service Performance Tool and the improved Ethernet Performance Tests suite. These new EtherScope capabilities maximize network performance and minimize downtime by identifying and correcting problems at the conclusion of a LAN infrastructure project.
Validating LANs and proactively resolving problems with the EtherScope Network Assistant is more cost effective than reacting to user complaints and troubleshooting a live, production network.
The expanded Service Performance Tool verifies that key network services are available and responding appropriately. The Service Performance Tool tests the performance of DHCP, DNS, email, FTP, NT file, web and WINS servers. The user can apply custom, service-specific pass/fail limits to each test for quick and easy analysis.
The enhanced Ethernet Performance Tests suite provides the essential RFC2544 tests (throughput, latency, loss, back-to-back) plus advanced tests such as loss rate, jitter and bit errors. Custom test scripts can be created to automate tests for the turn-up of specialized services and to establish test limits for simple pass/fail results analysis. Simple, fast loopback testing is made possible by using EtherScope with a low-cost LinkRunner Pro Reflector.
The EtherScope Network Assistant with the new LAN validation tests is available for immediate delivery through Fluke Networks sales partners worldwide.
