BlackBerry maker RIM has issued maintenance updates for organizations' Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) v5.0 service pack 1 (SP1) deployments.n IT administrators tending BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) v5.0 SP1 Microsoft Exchange and/or Lotus Domino deployments can today update their BES software to BES 5.0 SP1 MR2 and BES 5.0 SP1 MR1, respectively. BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) Software Download Page Both BES updates are meant to resolve a number of known issues within the corporate software. More specifically, BES 5.0 SP1 MR2 for Microsoft Exchange fixes bugs related to the BES BlackBerry Administration Service, BlackBerry Attachment Service, the BlackBerry Messaging Agent and device calendar synchronization, among other things. And the BES 5.0 SP1 MR1 for Lotus Domino fixes problems related to BES activation, the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service, BlackBerry Policy Service and device calendar synchronization, among other issues. BlackBerry admins planning to install either of the new updates on a computer running Windows 2003 should first read the associated release notes for the update to ensure a smooth transition, according to RIM. Both the Exchange and Domino maintenance release are the first such BES 5.0 SP1 updates of the year–the last significant release came in late 2009. Download the updates here.
