Research In Motion (RIM) has updated its Mac desktop synchronization software for BlackBerry to v.1.0.3.

BlackBerry smartphone users with Apple Macintosh computers today got an update from Research In Motion (RIM) for the company’s Mac desktop synchronization-software, BlackBerry Desktop Manager (BBDM) for Mac.

BBDM for Mac v1.0.2 has been updated to v1.0.3, and the new software can be found by visiting RIM’s website or by opening BBDM for Mac, clicking on the program’s name in the top right of your Mac’s display and selecting “Check for Updates.”

The new BBDM for Mac build includes a number of bug-fixes and feature-enhancements, as well as new language support for Japanese, Korean and both simplified and traditional Chinese.

More specifically, Desktop Manager for Mac v1.0.3 fixes a bug that kept some BlackBerry 7130 devices running RIM’s 4.2 OS from connecting and syncing. A calendar bug that caused errors after changing meeting-details following an initial synchronization via BBDM for Mac has been ironed out. And using the previous version of BBDM for Mac with Entourage caused problems if you had two work and home phone numbers on your computer; only one of them would synchronize, but v1.0.3 resolves this issue.

Unfortunately, there are still a number of known issues with BBDM for Mac that RIM’s till working to fix. For example, updating device software with a weak Internet connection will often result in failed-update errors. And users still cannot complete encrypted device-backups if their on-board device memory is almost full, according to RIM.

Download the latest version of RIM’s BlackBerry Desktop Manage for Mac from RIM. And check out the software’s release notes online.
