In a bid to improve the performance and quality levels of its key application and support services, Australian telecoms company Optus signed a three-year outsourcing contract with HP Enterprise Services.

Under the agreement, HP will handle applications management for a number of key applications. These include certain customer billing, data warehouse and other core systems of Optus, a subsidiary of SingTel.
Teams have already started planning the move of Optus’ current support from a large number of suppliers to HP.
In applying its Best Shore strategy, HP will use standardised tools and processes to expedite the transfer of services between delivery centres around the world.
“By streamlining our applications environment, we expect to achieve significant service level and operational improvements across our IT portfolio, which will result in a better experience overall for our customers,” said Lawrie Turner, chief information officer of Optus.
David Caspari, managing director of HP Enterprise Services for Australia and New Zealand, said: “Combining HP’s deep telecommunications and applications expertise with global Best Shore delivery capabilities will help Optus to improve application quality and achieve cost savings.”
