The CIO of defunct telemarketing firm GoInternet.net was charged with fraud on Friday, September 14, according to the Associated Press. Billy Light was charged with tricking potential customers into paying for web hosting and advertising services they hadn’t signed up to buy. GoInternet.net president and CEO Tyron Barr and VP Neal Saferstein were also charged. Selective Insurance Company of America CIO Richard Connell is assuming a new role amidst management changes at the Branchville, N.J.-based company. Connell was named chief administrative officer. In his new role, he oversees human resources, administrative services, procurement and contracts administration. He also remains responsible for IT and the company’s project management office. Connell’s new role stems from management transition plans Selective Insurance made when its senior executive vice president of insurance operations, Jim Ochiltree, announced that he will retire in March 2008. Henry Bros. Electronics hired Christopher Peckham as its new CIO and CSO. Peckham most recently worked for SunGard Higher Education as its director of operations in charge of desktop support, helpdesk, networking and telecom. Previously, he served as vice president of engineering at SkipJam Corp., vice president of network engineering and operations/senior vice president of information systems at Globix, manager of network engineering at Qwest Internet Solutions, and director of network operations at Bell Technology Group. Peckham received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and an MBA from Rutgers University. John Payne joined MedSynergies, a provider of revenue cycle management software to healthcare companies, as its CIO on September 13. Payne comes to the Dallas-based company from Perot Systems where he was a senior technology and operations executive. He previously worked for Ernst & Young as a senior manager in critical technologies.
