Last week, The Shaw Group promoted Patrick Thompson to EVP and COO of Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure. Thompson joined the Baton Rouge, La.-based engineering and construction company in 2002 as corporate CIO. He was subsequently appointed chief administrative officer, and in that position oversaw IT, HR, global facilities management, quality assurance and quality control, environmental health and safety, travel management and risk management.

The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) announced it had hired a new CIO last Thursday, June 7. Michael Jones (at left) leads the organization’s 130-person IT department and reports to Jeffrey Chell, the NMDP’s CEO. Jones joins the facilitator of marrow and blood cell transplants from pharmacy benefits manager Express Scripts, where he served as CTO. Prior to Express Scripts, he worked for Cigna Behavioral Healthcare as its CIO. He began his career with Deloitte Consulting.

Michael Saunders, vice president and CIO of apparel marketer Kellwood, was appointed corporate vice president and CIO at the St. Louis, Mo.-based company’s board meeting on June 7, 2007. Sauders joined Kellwood in May 2005 as CIO and added vice president to his title in March 2006. During the two years he has worked for the $2 billion company, Saunders has led an expansion and integration of Kellwood’s information technology infrastructure. He reports to W. Lee Capps, Kellwood’s COO.  Prior to Kellwood, Saunders served as CIO and vice president of business processes for Russ Berrie and Company, and held similar positions with Danskin and Jenna Lane Group.
