New portal is designed to improve franchises profits.

The week has been slow for announcements about CIO moves, probably due to the upcoming holiday weekend. But I did find a moderately interesting item about sub shop chain Quiznos’s new portal…

Yesterday, Quiznos unveiled a new web-based portal designed to help franchise owners meet their financial goals and improve communications between franchisees and corporate headquarters in Denver, Colo.  MyQuiznos.com offers franchise owners personal e-mail accounts, electronic forums in which they can connect with other franchise owners and corporate employees, RSS feeds and a variety of reporting tools.

Currently, the site boasts 8,000 users. In the coming weeks, the company plans to onboard over 20,000 more users. To incent franchise owners to use the site, which took four months to build, Quiznos is giving computers and printers to them for free for their stores.
