The IDG News Service is reporting that IBM laid off 1,315 employees in its Global Services Division on Tuesday, May 2.

The wire service report notes that IBM announced last month that it would slash expenses in the U.S. due to sluggish revenue in its U.S. enterprise business.  Presumably, the layoff announced yesterday represents the fulfillment of those cost-cutting efforts.

Does anyone have any insight into what’s happening at IBM?
