Newcastle Investment Corp. announced yesterday that its CIO, Erik Nygaard retired yesterday. According the press release announcing his seemingly abrupt retirement (I say seemingly because this retirement may have been planned in advance), Nygaard is retiring to spend more time with his family and to Thoroughbred breeding and racing ventures. The company said Newcastle investment employees will pick up Nygaard’s responsibilities. Nygaard was one of the co-founders of Fortress Investment Group, an affiliate of Newcastle Investment.

Stewart Information Services hired an IT director from Disney to serve as its new CIO. Murshid Khan most recently served as director of IT telecommunications, global strategy, engineering and advanced services at the Walt Disney Co. In this position, he led Disney’s networking and telecom strategy, architecture and project services functions on a global scale.

Timothy Stitely moved into the the CIO role at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last month. Stitely most recently served as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s (CMS) director of information services design and development.

I realize this post was totally uninspired, and I apologize for the lack of personality and insight. I’m on deadline for a story that’s going to be posted next week.
