Plus: Coremetrics Hires WebEx CIO as its COO and AutoZone Puts its CFO in Charge of IT

National Interop, a provider of communications systems for public agencies, hired the former CIO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as its new president. David Chamberlain joined the Portland, Ore.-based company last week. He was hired for his experience with large internet operations. Chamberlain is the former CIO of Disney’s Go.com portal. In that position he was responsible for building and managing the technical infrastructure used to operate Go.com, ESPN.com, ABCNews.com, NFL.com, NBA.com, MrShowbiz and other web sites. Chamberlain joined Disney when it purchased his previous company, Infoseek, where he was then serving as CIO and SVP of technical operations.

Robert Juliano starts a new job with Brandywine Realty Trust in February. Juliano was hired as the Radnor, Pa.-based real estate investment trust’s vice president and CIO on January 22. The 19-year financial technology veteran most recently worked for American Financial Realty Trust as its CIO. Prior to that, he was vice president of investment technology at Legg Mason in Baltimore, Md. ProSearch conducted the search for Brandywine’s CIO in six weeks.

ValueOptions, a provider of mental health and substance abuse services to public sector organizations, hired a former Magellan Health Services IT exec. Jeff Emerson joined the Norfolk, Va.-based firm last week as an executive vice president in charge of public sector business operations. Emerson most recently served as CIO and EVP for specialty products and employer solutions at Magellan health Services. In those positions, he spearheaded development and implementation of new products and services and led IT. Prior to Magellan, Emerson headed Cigna’s and NYLCare Health Plan’s mid-Atlantic regions and previously served as CEO of Sanus Health Plan in Washington, DC.

The San Jose Mercury News reported on January 19 (I’m so hopelessly behind on these announcements) that Coremetrics hired a long-time CIO as its new COO. Shawn Farshchi  joined the Silicon Valley-based provider of web analytics software on January 12 and reports to CEO Joe Davis.  Farshchi most recently served as CIO and vice president of technical operations at WebEx. Prior to WebEx he worked for BroadVision as its CIO and SVP of engineering and product development; for Oracle as a regional vice president and for DHL as its SVP and CIO.

Last week, AutoZone split up one of its EVP’s responsibilities.  Bob Olsen, formerly the EVP in charge of such disparate functions as supply chain, information technology, store development and Mexico is now in charge of retail/commercial operations and Mexico. AutoZone’s EVP and CFO Bill Giles takes up responsibility for IT (and store development.)
