Linda Beck, a one-time EarthLink CIO, was officially appointed president of EarthLink subsidiary New Edge Networks earlier this week. Beck had been serving as New Edge’s interim president since last August. She held that interim post while also serving as EarthLink’s EVP and general manager of its business solutions group. As the ISP’s EVP of operations, she was in charge of the company’s network operations’, software development, system administration, quality engineering and IT teams. She also served as EarthLink’s CIO and CTO.

Gilbane Building Company hired Jonathan Rider as its new VP and CIO. Rider most recently worked for Monster Worldwide as the job board’s vice president of business and financial systems technologies. His accomplishments during his four year tenure with Monster include aligning IT goals with business goals, supporting the company’s growth and leading Sarbanes Oxley compliance.     Federal Computer Week (FCW) reports that Edward Roback has been named acting CIO of the U.S. Treasury Department, succeeding Ira Hobbs, who retired on January 3, 2007.
