Plus: Sutter Health Names New CIO

Give it up for Bob Egan! The Idaho Statesman reported yesterday that Egan, VP and CIO of office products company Boise Cascade, has been named the city of Eagle’s Crime Prevention Volunteer of the Year.    The Eagle City Council is recognizing him for the 10 hours he’s put in each week since January patrolling the streets of Eagle on his mountain bike.  The story about Egan is a quick read. I highly recommend it.  It’s nice to see the way CIOs give back to their communities in the spare time.

The San Francisco Business Times reports that Sutter Health hired a new CIO to replace John Hummel, who left last winter to join Perot Systems. (For learn more about Hummel, check out the profile of him that I wrote for the May 1, 2005 issue of CIO.) Jonathan Manis joined the Sacramento-based hospital system from Provena Health in Ill.
