Plus: Freddie Mac Gets a New CIO

Last week, Mac & Cheese maker Kraft announced some cheese-moving among its management team. Two of the executives staying put at the dinner—er, decision-making table—are David Brearton and Alene Korby.  As part of the executive management realignment, Brearton was named EVP of Global Business Services & Strategy. In his new position, Brearton oversees information systems, business process improvement, and mergers and acquisitions. He reports to Kraft’s big cheese (What can I say? I can’t help myself) Irene Rosenfeld. Kraft’s EVP and CIO Alene Korby is now also responsible for managing the company’s outsourced and shared services.

Last Friday Freddie Mac announced that it had hired James Hughes as its new SVP and CIO.  Hughes, 48, starts his new job on September 25 and will report to Joseph A. Smialowski, Freddie Mac’s EVP for operations and Technology.  He most recently worked for Cleveland-based National City Corp. where he served as CIO and EVP and branch banking division head. Joseph McCartin currrently serves as National City’s CIO. James Witkins last held the CIO role at Freddie Mac.
