On five year anniversary of 9/11, Springman promoted to CIO at Northrop Grumman unit

Michael Springman earned his CIO stripes at Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector. Springman, a 29-year veteran of the defense contractor, was named CIO yesterday. He most recently served as his sector’s division director in charge of implementing the battle command systems used by U.S. and coalition land forces in Iraq.

Another promotion went to Angel Pacheco at FreeStar Technology Corp.  After a year and a half on the job as the payment processing company’s CTO, Pacheco was made vice president of new business development yesterday. He reports to FreeStar Technology President and CEO Paul Egan.  Prior to joining FreeStar Technology in May 2005 , Pacheco was CIO of Blackstone Calling Cards. One of his biggest accomplishments there was developing a system for delivering prepaid products including phone cards to point of sale machines (aka computerized cash registers) and kiosks. 

The Tacoma Daily reports that Florence Chang joined MultiCare Health System as its new VP and CIO. One of her primary responsibilities in her new role will be to oversee a team deploying an electronic medical record system at Tacoma General Hospital, Allenmore Hospital and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, according to the Tacoma Daily. Chang joins the Tacoma, Wash.-based healthcare organization from Dearborn Advisors, a healthcare IT consulting firm.
