Calling all CIOs-in-transition: The CIO of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is looking for an associate CIO to stay on top of new technologies and take the lead in implementing them within the agency, according to Federal Computer Week.  The DOE CIO is going to begin his search by the end of September, so if you’re interested and have “a strong technology background,” get your resume and cover letter together.  Separately, I reported yesterday that the DOE was getting a new Deputy CIO.

Wireless security solutions provider SafeBoot elected the former CIO of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency to its board of directors.  SafeBoot CEO Gerhard Watzinger announced in a press release that his company tapped Alan Wade for his experience with mobile data security projects while at the CIA.  Wade worked for the agency for 35 years. He retired in 2005.   Earlier this month, Wade was made an advisor to IxReveal, a provider of text analytics software.
