Gordon Errington is retiring from his post as deputy CIO of the U.S. Department of Energy on September 30, 2006.  Government Computer News reports that Carl Staton, the CIO at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, was tapped to succeed Errington.  Errington’s plan to pursue consulting before fully retiring confirms results of a survey Robert Half Technology released yesterday that shows that a third of IT professionals would consider consulting as a way of transitioning into retirement.
