Rob Enderle has a good column on linuxinsider.com in which he analyses the careers of Mark Hurd, Carly Fiorina and Martin Taylor, who unexpectedly left Microsoft last week, for advice on how best to manage one’s own career.  Although Ms. Fiorina’s management mis-steps have been hashed and rehashed, and although I’m not sure what point Enderle is trying to make with Martin Taylor’s career besides ‘expect the unexpected’, his piece is well-written, entertaining and practical.  Check it out.

Now for the news that brought you here…

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport hired the city of Phoenix’s former CIO as its acting director.  As Phoenix’s acting aviation director, Danny Murphy also oversees two general aviation airports, Phoenix Deer Valley and Phoenix Goodyear Airports.  Before taking on his new post, Murphy was acting director of Phoenix’s Water Services Department.  Prior to that, he was CIO and director of the city’s IT department, where he managed a $70 million capital budget.

Brad Mohs joined Yellowpages.com on June 21 as its new CTO.  Mohs comes to the Pasadena-based company from Scientific Games where as SVP of software engineering he was in charge of product development. Prior to Scientific Games, Mohs was CTO of Autotrader.com.
