What can Brown do for EMS Technologies? Offer up a former CIO to serve on the wireless communications company’s board of directors. Yesterday, UPS alum Frank Erbrick was elected to EMS Technologies’ board. Erbrick worked for UPS from 1985 to 1997 as its CIO.  During his tenure with the logistics company, Erbrick oversaw the development of UPS’s IT architecture, telecom network and its package tracking system.  He has worked as a consultant in McKinsey & Company’s business technology office since 1997.

Ali Jamshidi is on the up and up at First Energy.  The former CIO, who joined the Akron, Ohio-based energy company’s engineering department in 1982, was promoted to vice president of commodity operations yesterday. He most recently served as vice president of First Energy’s energy delivery group, a position he moved into in 2004 after serving as the company’s CIO for three years.
