New CIOs at Sigma-Aldrich and Thrivent Financial

Plus: Thomas Group hires former CIO of Pearle Vision

Carl Turza starts a new job as CIO of chemical products manufacturer Sigma-Aldrich on May 1. He will report to the St. Louis, Mo.-based company’s CFO and chief administrative officer, Mike Hogan.  He most recently served as COO of Woodwind & Brasswind, a global distributor of musical instruments, and previously worked for W.W. Grainger as its vice president of e-business and as general manager of Grainger.com. Prior to Grainger, he was employed with AlliedSignal Aerospace. 

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans hired Holly Morris as its new CIO in charge of a 500+ person IT department.  She joined the Minneapolis-based company from American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise) where she served as SVP of IT.  Prior to that, she held IT leadership positions with ING Financial Services, and from 1993 to 1997 she was the CIO for the city of Minneapolis. 

Thomas Group added Colby Springer to its roster of consultants.  Springer held the CIO post at such companies as Pearle Vision, Blockbuster Entertainment and Michaels Stores.
