Plus: Connell Promoted at Selective Insurance Group Guidant’s Vice President and CIO William McConnell (pictured at left) has been chosen to serve on the leadership team of the new Cardiac Rhythm Management Group that will be formed when Boston Scientific completes its acquisition of Guidant, which is expected to take place during the first week of April. McConnell is also leading Guidant’s integration planning with Boston Scientific. Other members of the new Cardiac Rhythm Management Group include Mark Bartell, Guidant’s president of U.S. Sales Operations, and Fred Colen, Boston Scientific’s EVP and CTO. The new leadership team will report to Boston Scientific’s President and CEO Jim Tobin. Richard Connell (pictured at right) was promoted to senior executive vice president and CIO of Selective Insurance Group and Selective Insurance Company of America. Connell has worked for the Branchville, N.J.-based company since August 2000 as its EVP and CIO. Previously, he worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance as its CTO.
