Nov 02, 20052 mins

Government Computer News reports that the U.S. Department of Defense hired a new CIO.  John G. Grimes most recently worked for Raytheon as its vice president of intelligence and information systems.

Michael Elmore (pictured on the left) joined Ace Hardware as its vice president of information technology.  No word yet on whether Ace’s previous VP of IT, Mike Altendorf (pictured on the right), is still with the company.

Elmore, 44, will be focusing on the ongoing rollout of Ace’s common technology platform and the enhancement of its supply chain systems.  He most recently served as CIO for Pep Boys, an aftermarket auto parts retailer.  He previously worked for Lowes for 10 years, and for Wal-Mart and J.B. Hunt. Paul Ingevaldson (pictured at left, below) retired as Ace Hardware’s CIO last year.

Pioneer Investments hired an independent technology consultant, Peter Noll, as its  senior vice president and CTO.  Noll reports to Mark Goodwin, executive vice president and COO.  From 2001 to 2004, he worked for MFS Investment Management as senior vice president and CIO.  Previously, Noll spent a decade with State Street Corp. as its senior vice president in charge of client technology integration.  Earlier in his career, he held management positions with Tandem Computers, Data Architects and Burroughs Computers.
