Last week, Verizon Wireless named John Hinshaw (pictured above) vice president and CIO. Hinshaw succeeds Roger Gurani, who was promoted to president of Verizon Wireless’s West Area business operations. Hinshaw, who now oversees a department with 2,100 employees, has been a member of Verizon Wireless’s executive team and IT organization since the company was founded in 2000. He reports to Denny Strigl, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless. In a press release, Henshaw’s boss spoke of the new CIO’s accomplishments: “John has been a key player in the formation of the Verizon Wireless IT organization since we launched the business five years ago and has helped build an information systems infrastructure that is market-driven and focused on delivering a superior customer experience.” The New York Times reported on Friday that Gregory Framke was promoted from executive vice president to CIO at E-Trade Financial. Government Computer News reported that Craig Luigart has been appointed deputy CIO for health at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Debra Stouffer joined Digital Management, an IT services firm that specializes in e-government, as its senior vice president of business development. She comes to the Bethesda, Md.-based company from BAE Systems, where she was vice president of business development and marketing for its Government Enterprise Solutions group. Previously, she worked in federal government for 30 years, more recently as CTO of the Environmental Protection Agency and Deputy CIO at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
