Lenovo Group, the Chinese company that purchased IBM’s PC division in April 2005, hired Steven J. Bandrowczak as its senior vice president and CIO.  Bandrowczak, 45, reports to Lenovo’s CEO, Steve Ward.  He comes to the company from DHL Worldwide where he was executive vice president and CIO.  Prior to DHL, Bandrowczak was COO of Seal Consulting Group and CIO of Avnet, where he worked for 14 years.  He holds a computer science degree from C.W. Post University.

Greg Schueman (pictured at right) recently joined Employers Direct Insurance Co. as vice president and CIO of the Agoura Hills, Calif.-based provider of workers’ compensation insurance.  He most recently worked for Mercury Insurance as vice president of IT and CTO.

Two CIOs were recently honored with Albert Einstein Awards for their achievements in the technology industry.  Dick LeFave (pictured at left), senior vice president and CIO of Nextel, and Tom Trainer, senior vice president and CIO of PepsiCo, earned the recognition for their leadership and for their contributions to the high-tech industry.  The award was presented by Global Capital Associates.

And I’m still trying to confirm the alleged CIO change at Fisher Scientific.
