Motorola EVP and CIO Patricia Morrison was appointed to the board of directors of SPSS, a provider of predictive analytics software, late last week. Morrison, 48, will serve on the audit committee. She has held her post as CIO of Motorola since 2005. Previously, she was CIO of Office Depot and The Quaker Oats Company. Morrison holds a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics and statistics and a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Miami University.

Robert Carson, the executive director of enterprise information systems at The E.W. Scripps Company, will become the media powerhouse’s VP and CIO by mid-2008, after the company separates into two publicly traded corporations: The E.W. Scripps Company and Scripps Networks Interactive. Carson, 51, has worked for Scripps for 18 years.

Mark S. Hale, 49, will serve as Scripps Networks Interactive‘s senior vice president of technology operations and chief technology officer. Hale joined Scripps in 1994 and was a member of the original management team that oversaw the launch of HGTV.

Promotional products distributor Boundless Network promoted its vice president of development, Jeremy Kraybill, to CIO. In his new role, Kraybill is heading up efforts to make it easier for large organizations to purchase promotional products. He’ll be focused on leading the development of the next phase of the company’s BrandForge technology platform, which reduces the time it takes corporations to order promotional products and connects corporate buyers to aggregate orders to reduce their costs. Kraybill joined Boundless Network in 2006. Previously, he worked for eBay managing its software development team in Austin, Texas. He also developed software for WhisperWire, a telecom software company acquired by Convergys.
