A Slashdot user wants to know how to become an IT manager. I’m hoping the CIO.com audience can pool its collective wisdom to answer this person’s question.
Specifically, s/he’s wondering if s/he should look for an IT manager position with a new company or try to move up inside his/her current employer. This individual says s/he has worked in software development, tech support, network operations and systems administration.
What do you think s/he should do? How does someone become an IT manager today?
