RIM this week issued a new maintenance update for BES 5.0.2 for Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino.

BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion (RIM) yesterday released a new software maintenance update for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 5.0 service pack 2 (5.0.2) for both Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino deployments.

BES 5.0.2 maintenance release 2 (MR2) fixes a number of known issues with earlier version of BES 5.0.2 for Exchange and Domino. Specifically, BES 5.0.2 MR2 resolves bugs related to the BES BlackBerry Administration Service, the BlackBerry Messaging Agent and the BlackBerry Monitoring Service.

The 5.0.2 MR2 update is currently only available for Exchange and Domino, and it doesn’t seem to affect BES Express deployments. BES Express is a slimmed down, free version of BES for organizations that may not demand the level of BlackBerry security and IT control available via full BES.

In related news, RIM last month patched yet another BES flaw related to the problematic BlackBerry Attachment Service PDF distiller component in BES 5.0.2.

And BES 5.0.3 is also expected to become available in the coming months.

For more details on the BES 5.0.2 MR2 update and how to install it, read RIM’s associated release notes for Exchange and Lotus Domino. And you can download the software on RIM’s website.
