Is CIO hiring picking up in September? Despite the weather, the summer has not been all that hot when it comes to the job market. While there have been a decent number of CIO openings, we still have “more kings than kingdoms,” which will still take some time for the market to absorb. That being said, September is off to a good start with a greater number of openings already than in the beginning of July and of August. The fourth quarter is typically a strong one for the executive search industry; let’s hope it holds up!In the meantime, here is the news. BJs Wholesale Club has made several additions to its IT leadership team. Scott Floeck, formerly CIO of Staples and Nuance Communications is SVP and Business Information Officer; Robin Shawver, also formerly of Nuance, is VP of Shared Service Solutions and Steve Allocco, formerly a director at Dunkin Brands is VP of Sales Operations Solutions. Paul Turino left the world of IT consulting to lead IT for the New York City based education management company. Managed care company QualCare has named Karthik Ganesh as its new CIO and Senior Vice President of Operations. Karthik brings more than 10 years of deep technology and business operations expertise via broad leadership positions at Fortune 150 health plan and pharmacy benefit management organizations. Prior to joining QualCare, Karthik served as head of business operations at Aetna in Hartford, CT. Mike Onders has left his role as CIO for PNC Global Investment Servicing for the Chief Architect position at Key Bank. Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has announced the appointment of Ted Hengst its CIO role. Hengst has served as president of Harris IT Services since joining Harris in December 2006. Prior to joining Harris, Hengst served as a senior vice president for General Dynamics. Sanjeev Prasad has been named CIO of business process and technology management company Genpact Limited. Prasad will focus on utilizing technology such as Business Process as a Service (BPaaS), virtualization and cloud computing in order to provide cost-effective, highly-scalable and quick-to-market solutions, products, and platforms for clients. He joined Genpact in 2006 as an IT leader supporting a key North American financial services company. Centrica has appointed David Bickerton as its global CIO. Bickerton Centrica joins from British Gas, a Centrica subsidiary. Bickerton is now heading up the development and delivery of an integrated information system strategy for the energy group. Bickerton joined Centrica in 2004 and has previously worked for Fujitsu and ICL where he held a number of general management roles. Steve Morin has joined Bright Horizons Childrens Centers as global CIO. Bright Horizons is an employer- sponsored daycare organization with sites throughout the United States and Europe.
