Wireless Mini Boombox is Perfect for Presentations–and Parties

Making an important sales pitch or a presentation with audio and want something more impactful than your laptop’s built-in speakers? Or perhaps you’re a frequent traveler looking for a portable speaker that’s compact enough to stow in your carry-on bag. The Logitech Mini Boombox just may be the solution you seek.

The Logitech Mini Boombox is well-built and sturdy with an immaculate finish and rubberized legs, a stylish curved acrylic panel along the top and a metallic speaker grill. The acrylic panel also serves as a touch sensitive control panel with individual buttons lit in red for a decidedly sophisticated appearance.

Logitech says the Mini Boombox can last up to 10 hours on its internal rechargeable battery. And it can be recharged via a USB port to extend battery life indefinitely when tethered to a laptop. The Mini Boombox supports the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile and can be used for phone calls, while a 2.5mm stereo mini plug on the back panel serves as an input for non-Bluetooth devices.

Pairing my iPhone smartphone was smooth and seamless, and I also able to easily pair the Mini Boombox with my PC. Everything worked flawlessly and immediately after the pairings, and then the Mini Boombox connected automatically to my PC in 6-8 seconds after switching it on. Because the Mini Boombox supports the Bluetooth AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) profile, its various multimedia controls allows you to wirelessly skip tracks or pause music playback on your audio device.

Having reviewed my fair share of Bluetooth speakers, I was somewhat skeptical about what late-comer Logitech could bring to the table that other companies haven’t already offered in their comparable products. The Mini Boombox surprised me with its high volumen limit and better-than-expected sound quality. Music playback did come out a little scratchy when I played my music at the maximum level, though it reproduced mid-range sound very well. When I played a couple of YouTube videos and audio files, for example, speech came out sounding rich and expansive.

My main complaint about the Mini Boombox is really cosmetic in nature; the acrylic panel scratches very, very easily. A web of fine scratches appeared after carrying it in my laptop bag just once. It would have been nice if Logitech had included a hard casing or even a storage bag to protect it from the inevitable dings and scratches. Also, the Mini Boombox comes with a mini-USB port for charging instead of the micro-USB port that is becoming far more common these days.

Conclusion

Priced at just $99.99, the Mini Boombox is much cheaper than many comparable products. This makes it a great buy iconsidering its larger-than-life sound reproduction. I don’t plan to purchase a Mini Boombox for myself, as I already own a couple similar speakers, but it would be a reasonably-priced and solid optionfor business users looking for a quality wireless speaker that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
