Ware Sykes, a VP with TheLadders, has offered to help one lucky CIO.com reader make over his or her resume.

Do you suspect that your resume is holding back your job search-–but you’re not sure what the problem is? Here’s your shot at getting some expert advice. And for free.

Ware Sykes, VP of consumer services for job search website TheLadders, has kindly offered to help one lucky CIO.com reader make over his or her resume.  If you want Sykes’s help updating your resume, send a copy of it to me at mlevinson at cio dot com, along with a truthful explanation of why you need this free resume makeover. For example, if you’ve been out of work for a long time, or have had trouble getting interviews, and you think your resume may be to blame, let me know. Conversely, if you’re looking for a new job because your boss is a maniac, let me know that, too. If you have particular resume-writing questions, include them in your e-mail to me.

I’ll select a resume based on an individual’s need and the quality of his or her existing resume. You need to be an IT professional to have your resume selected, but you don’t have to be currently employed.

The resume that I select will be featured in a CIO.com story, written by yours truly, about resume-writing best practices. The article will include before-and-after examples from the chosen resume.

If you’d like to have your resume made over but you’re concerned about your name or portions of your resume appearing in a CIO.com article, let me know; I may be able to identify a workaround.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 6.
