Slater & Gordon law firm selects Good Technology for its mobile strategy

Slater Gordon Lawyers has selected Good Technology to support its corporate and BYOD smartphones and tablets in Australia.

“As more employees wanted to use their own smartphones, ActiveSync was no longer a viable solution for us,” says Eric Yew, infrastructure manager at Slater Gordon, of the previous system they were using to connect and configure mobile devices.

“For example, our staff did not want the IT department imposing device-wide logins and policy on their own phones and impeding access to their personal applications.”

Slater Gordon’s IT department assessed the mobile systems available and from a shortlist of two, elected to trial GFE (Good for Enterprise).

The trial showed GFE’s ability to provide the IT department with the level of control they needed over the corporate data and applications, while allowing employees to enjoy using their personal apps.

“Good’s secure container approach means that corporate and personal information is strictly separated on the device, which is an important distinction from an employee perspective when they are supplying their own phone,” says Yew. “We also liked the fact that GFE offers multi-platform support.”

The deployment will cover 80 BYOD devices and 200 corporate issued devices, according to Good Technology.
