NTT Ltd, the newly formed, global technology services provider, says it has signed a deal with James Pascoe Group to deliver its new hybrid Power Cloud solution to the retail organisation in New Zealand.

NTT’s Power Cloud solution allows companies to move to a consumption-based model, and to scale their requirements up and down to meet business demands.

“NTT’s Power Cloud solution will allow us to take advantage of a best-in-class cloud solution without the capital outlay,” says David Lean, group head of IT at James Pascoe Group of Companies.

“The hybrid environment provides elasticity, enabling us to scale its requirements up and down as required,” says Lean, in a statement.

“This is particularly useful in a disaster recovery (DR) environment, which by its nature is only deployed occasionally, such as during test sessions.”

James Pascoe Group owns and operates retail chains that include Farmers, Goldmark, Stevens and Whitcoulls.

“The platform-as-a-service offering is a perfect fit for the retail group’s current requirements,” saysSteve Wotten, head of digital at Dimension Data New Zealand.

“The James Pascoe Group will benefit from a cloud offering that will extend the life of existing hardware, shift the cost from a capital to an operating expense, and provide a faster, more reliable end-user experience,” he adds.

Wotten says the hybrid solution was created by the New Zealand team to provide local clients with a pathway to cloud services for all their existing applications, including those approaching end-of-life.

“Power Cloud is a great example of Kiwi innovation and ingenuity, and we are seeing great interest from our colleagues in our other markets.”
