Department for Education CIO resigns

The Department for Education has lost its CIO Rachel Murphy-Cooper after just 10 months.

Murphy-Cooper joined the department in November 2013 as the interim CIO on a transformation agenda and was closely linked to government CTO Liam Maxwell.

Murphy-Cooper has varied experience of both the private sector and public sector with experience at construction firm Keir, May Gurney and public sector roles as Head of IT at Central Bedfordshire Council and Harrow and Tower Hamlets local authorities.

This is the latest in a round of changes of senior CIO roles in Whitehall at departments such as the Ministry of Defence, HMRC and the Department for Work and Pensions.
