British American Tobacco FD to be CIO

The Finance Director of cigarettes manufacturer British American Tobacco (BAT) is to become the CIO of the company, it was announced today as part of a board level re-organisation.

Financial Director (FD) Ben Stevens will remain as FD, and will add the CIO role to his responsibilities. BAT said in a statement that the 50 year-old will be driving forward integration projects across the business as it becomes more global. Stevens will become CIO form September.

Stevens steps into the new role as part of a board-level re-organisation of BAT as a result of Paul Adams stepping down as chief executive of the company this coming February. Nicandro Durante will become the new chief executive on the departure of Adams and from September will be chief executive designate.

BAT manufacturers the Dunhill, Pall Mall and Lucky Strike cigarette brands.

In Februaray of this year BAT signedan outsourcing application services deal with Indian specialists Wipro. The deal will see Wipro improve the quality and productivity BAT gains from its software, whilst also reducing costs.
