The Egyptian job market has taken a hit during the COVID-19 crisis, but long-term prospects for tech roles still look good. Here are 7 top tech jobs that companies need to fill.

Though unemployment rates in Egypt have increased as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, the future for Egyptian IT professionals looks positive. Digital transformation initiatives among government entities and private enterprises as well as a rise in entrepreneurship in the country bode well for the long-term health of the technology job market.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues across the globe, the long-term economic effects of the pandemic are becoming apparent. Economies that have traditionally relied on industries like tourism, construction, and oil are especially feeling the pinch of closed borders and shuttered attractions, and thousands of employees have found themselves back in the job market.

This is also true of Egypt, with more than a quarter of Egyptians experiencing job loss between the end of February and May, and production dropping in several manufacturing sectors within that timeframe, according to the state statistics agency, CAPMAS. But the employment outlook for the country may see an upswing sooner rather than later, according to regional experts. 

Signs point to a restart in hiring in Egypt

"Employment numbers still fell at an accelerated rate in June, although multiple signals suggest this will soon change," David Owen, economist at IHS Markit, said in a recent report. "Higher demand at some companies, increased backlogs and sentiment rising to a six-month high all point to firms hopefully restarting hiring in the near future."
