Rupert Murdoch owned newspaper publisher News International has been in the headlines consistently in the last 12 months as a result of the phone hacking scandal and subsequent closure of the News of the World tabloid. Renamed NI Group in May 2011 the company is the UK publishing arm of Australian Murdoch’s News Corporation empire that includes newspapers in the US and the antipodes. NI Group publishes the Times, Sunday Times and Sun newspapers from its Wapping base in Tower Hamlets, East London. NI has printing presses in Broxbourne, Knowsley and Lanarkshire. It is one of the few newspaper groups to commit to a subscription model for its online content, with limited success.
