BAA was once a nationalised company and is today Spanish-owned as part of the Ferrovial Group and operates six airports across Britain including the nation’s busiest Heathrow. BAA operates from its headquarters at Heathrow and had to sell off its second London airport Gatwick recently. The recent hard winters in Britain have led to major flight disruptions and harsh criticism of BAA for its investments and operations at Heathrow. BAA is fighting a regulatory move calling for it to sell Stansted airport in Essex.
