Natascha Polderman cemented her formal appointment as group CIO of risk consultancy Control Risks last year by building out the IT infrastructure for business model innovation. Her big focus during 2017 was the delivery of an online subscription platform to help the company sell more subscriptions to its content and analysis by consolidating different online products on a single platform. Its implementation has already generated additional revenue as new clients are signed up and existing clients renew their subscriptions. Having delivered the digital foundation layer, Polderman intends to move on to the next phase – harnessing external data sources to deliver more value for clients using a combination of automation, APIs and analytics. Bottom-line business efficiencies have also come from her replacement of legacy systems to improve cashflow and invoicing times across the company. Likewise, she has boosted global collaboration by implementing Microsoft Teams (and other benefits of Office 365) as part of a data management programme that will shift the ownership of internally captured data to key data owners. All data will be moved out of legacy file servers and into O365.
