Global Radio's DAX digital advertising platform, developed by Director of Technology and Operations David Henderson and his team, has become the largest audio advertising platform in the world in the last 12 months. As leader of technology, digital and IT at the media company best know for its brands Capital, Classic, LBC and Radio X, Henderson has been a vocal and visible champion of diversity and inclusion in the tech sector, and ensured Global was a founding member of the Tech Talent Charter. Henderson attributes attracting and developing the diversity of the expert tech team at Global as a core part of executing on the organisation's strategy which has helped it deliver tremendous growth. "From our partnership approach with key vendors to a more diverse talent strategy and attracting the best entry level technologists, we have been able to execute an ambitious digital transformation that, in turn, has helped launch compelling new products and grow the business," Henderson told CIO UK. Henderson's team have been integrating new music festivals into the Global portfolio, completed its back-office migration into a public cloud, and simplified its technology estate improving security. All broadcasters have also had to pass a presenter 'driving test' using a VR headset simulation which has helped reducing operator errors and awkward radio silences between handovers and break by a third. Global's DAX platform is the market leader in digital audio advertising and is the world's most advanced and largest programmatic platform giving advertisers access to an audience of 160 million people across premium audio publishers including Global's Capital, Heart and Radio X, SoundCloud and audioBoom. Henderson said that it had huge a big impact on the sector, with the ad tech infrastructure now in place for advertisers to transact audio in the way they are used to with display and video.
