The chip maker deployed its Enterprise Business Intelligence program to deliver information and analysis of events on the factory floor in near-real-time. The system, which includes data visualization tools, improved Freescale's ability to make faster decisions about manufacturing problems. The processing time for generating reports has been cut from 2 days to half a day. Annual productivity savings due to better decision making amounts to approximately $1.2 million. The company has also been able to resolve quality problems 30 percent faster.
