GM developed the Production Operations Execution Test Simulator, a tool set for simulating manufacturing plant floor operations which can emulate actual vehicle production. Using POETS, GM can simulate, test and validate plant floor systems before they are released into production. The company estimates that during deployment of GM's Global Enterprise Production Information and Control System, POETS enabled GM to avoid $18 million in lost production time.
