Project Description:
Monsanto deployed seed-chipping technology to obtain genetic information about a plant. The technology, which integrates software with robotics, allows breeders to select seeds with desired traits before planting them, reducing field labor and land usage, and significantly improving time to market for the company's products. Seed chipping has doubled Monsanto's genetic fingerprinting capability and improved the yield of newly bred seeds by 15 percent.
