GE Energy's Parts and Repairs Services division launched a digitization and decreasing-cycle-time initiative to better service parts fulfillment. From 20062008, the company implemented a streamlined quote system, an extranet-based sourcing and purchasing module, a forecasting system and an automated shipping solution. The result: a reported decrease of up to five days in the time it takes to create a quote, and an improvement from from 78 percent (in 2006) to 91 percent (in 2008) in on-time delivery.
