Pacific Coast producers had to tag all cases and pallets of produce with RFID devices to accommodate a mandate by Wal-Mart. The company was able to overcome implementation obstacles that vendors and other manufacturers advised would prevent RFID from delivering ROI, such as its use with metal cans and for low-margin products. Using RFID tags, PCP can now analyze out-of-stock situations and mange promotions to maximize product sales.
