IHG, the parent company of hotels such as Intercontinental and Holiday Inn, created the mobile.ihg.com mobile website to better serve travelers, particularly those making or changing their plans on the go. The site takes advantage of such advanced capabilities as location detection. Travelers can find nearby hotels and connect to a location-specific phone number. Custom driving and walking directions are also available to iPhone users. The site propelled a 1500 percent boost in mobile web bookings.
