2012 Winner Profile

Mazda North American Operations

Project Description:
To help sales consultants engage its customersthe second-youngest in the auto industryMazda has created a Web-based application designed to run on an iPad. Because it's Web-based, the Mazda Interactive Sales Experience did not need to go through Apples approval process, and saves memory on the device by not requiring a large download. Developed in conjunction with dealers, the app helps customers select the model, trim and options they want, offers road test maps and a Google map of the surrounding area, and allows for customization by dealers if they wish to add their own images and text to the app. Since the app quickly provides technical specifications and details about the vehicles, sales consultants no longer need to memorize these items and their training can instead focus on building relationships with customers. Mazda anticipates payback for the project in 13 to 24 months.
