Project Description:
CUNA Mutual Group, which serves more than 7,000 credit unions, needed a more efficient and effective way to help financial advisers explain retirement planning to customers. To do this, it developed a Web application that uses gamification principles to increase customer engagement during face-to-face discussions between customers and their advisers. The result is Retirement Radar, a tablet- and mobile-optimized Web application that simplifies sophisticated retirement risk management analysis in a game-type format and process. As the first-of-its kind Web app for the credit union industry, Radar contributed to increased sales of lifetime annuities, helping the company hit $70 million in sales in 2012, well above its stretch goal of $50 million. It also contributed to the company's ability to garner repeat sales from advisers, and it is a competitive differentiator in the marketplace.
