2013 Winner Profile

FedEx Corp.

Project Description:
FedEx Web Services is a set of integration tools that lets e-commerce businesses offer their customers dynamic shipping-related services directly from their websites and internal business applications. Online shopping sites can give their customers visibility into their orders as e-commerce applications communicate with FedEx processing systems by passing real-time information over the Internet. But with the booming growth of e-commerce, FedEx had to upgrade the system to ensure sufficient capacity, performance and reliability for its busy season last year and for years to come. The company decided to move FedEx Web Services to a cloud environment, with a new enterprise service bus that made it possible to quadruple capacity for customer-facing transactions at a fraction of the cost of on-site hardware.
