2013 Winner Profile

Hess Corp.

Project Description:
In October 2012, after the devastation caused by superstorm Sandy on the East Coast, Hess implemented two innovative IT solutions to keep the business up and running, and, more importantly, to help residents and businesses in the affected communities. First, the company created and published an Online Fuel Tracker reporting system to help motorists find gasoline. Second, Hess restored operations at four damaged fuel terminals by implementing wireless hotspot technologies, enabling the resumption of critical communications and the transfer of important operational data. The systems Hess put into place kept much-needed gasoline flowing in the region during the severe fuel shortage created by the storm.
