Project Description:
Analysis of the society's fundraising events found too much friction in the ability to accept donations on the spot, and it was difficult to know who had attended events, resulting in missed opportunities. So the IT department, in collaboration with the marketing and finance functions, developed ACS Donate, a mobile payment and event-support app focused on fundraising before and during events. Using the app, staff and supporters can scan credit/debit cards and checks for donations, check event information, register attendees and manage the event. The mobile app is the first of its kind in the nonprofit field. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers and staff have access to the app, which can be used at more than 5,000 events nationwide each year. This provides a significant new source of revenue, signups and support for events, as well as a reduction in fundraising costs.
