To keep pace with the skyrocketing demand for cellular data traffic, AT&T needed to quickly deploy more "small cells" to improve network coverage in areas unable to be served by traditional cell towers. So AT&T's Technology Development Team created Network Efficiency Management tools to support small cell deployments -- from the planning to provisioning and monitoring. Using the new, automated tools, a deployment process that used to take over 250 days now can be done in less than 100 days. Customers can even self-install small cells in a fully automated process that doesn't require an AT&T technician. The result: Customers get a stronger LTE signal and an improved network experience because small cells are being deployed quickly and more efficiently.
